Founded in late 2023 by South Surrey–White Rock student Ben Gong, InnoCommunity was born out of a simple insight: language and technology should open doors—never close them.

South Surrey–White Rock is a coastal corner of British Columbia long cherished for its mild climate and relaxed pace. But as real-estate prices surged in nearby cities, our neighbourhood saw a wave of new residents—many from East Asia—drawn by comparatively affordable housing and a family-friendly atmosphere. While this diversity has enriched our community, newcomers, small businesses, and grassroots non-profits often face steep hurdles: unfamiliar languages, limited networks, and rapidly evolving digital tools.

Ben launched InnoCommunity just as AI tools like ChatGPT were breaking into the mainstream. His first experiment—RedNotes / 白石牵手南素里（White Rock × South Surrey）—used AI to gather local information, translate resources, and share practical tips with immigrants, entrepreneurs, and micro-charities. The results were clear: when people can access the right knowledge in the right language, they thrive—and so does the community around them.
